On Thursday 30 May 2013, at 6.30 pm, the exhibition will be inaugurated and the film Tristanoil - The longest film in the world by Nanni Balestrini will be screened, premiered in Kassel on the occasion of dOCUMENTA (13). After Milan (Marconi Foundation), Florence (Frittelli Arte Contemporanea), Rome (Macro Museum), Turin (Martano Gallery), Naples (Morra Foundation) and Genoa (Palazzo Ducale) the projection of the continuation of his combinatorial game in the name of reassembly at salt. Darsena - Magazzini del Sale - Venice, organized by the Michela Rizzo Gallery in collaboration with the Morra Foundation of Naples, with the curatorship of Martina Cavallarin.
Tristanoil is, in fact, a film through generates a computer that amalgamates, in chapters of ten minutes each, over 150 video clips so that each unit is different from the other while dealing with the same topic: the destructive effects of oil on the planet. Activating a process contrary to the standardization of the images proposed by films or commercial TV programs, Balestrini combines electronic effects with different video materials: thanks to the program conceived by Vittorio Pellegrineschi and the video processing by Giacomo Verde, the artist uses the cut-up technique (disassembly-assembly-reassembly) to create visual recombination of video sequences of the well-known American television series Dallas, news of ecological disasters, frenetic images of the stock exchange, favelas and news episodes, flanked by sentences read by the author himself and taken from his hyper-novel Tristano (1966), published in 2007 in volumes that are all different from each other. Adopting once again a narrative process based on an uninterrupted verbal flow, the artist renews his intense research in the literary and technological fields, dedicating himself to the theme and environmental alarm.

The exhibition appointment, therefore, arises as a new opportunity to deepen his poetics and his social commitment, aimed at making the public reactive regarding one of the most imposing threats to our planet, both for the disasters caused and for the financial speculations involved. Once again, after 7,608 hours, 24 hours a day, in 317 days of projection at dOCUMENTA (13) and in important Italian galleries and museums, the theme of the seriality of goods and art as standardized product returns, where gold black envelops deceptive images and the gaze of the same, now a spectator involved in a collective and infinite process of creation. After travelling to different cities, Tristanoil's itinerary continues at the Magazzini del Sale (S.a.L.E. Docks) in Venice, from May 30 to September 30, parallel to the 55th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. The exhibition is curated by the Michela Rizzo Gallery in collaboration with the Morra Foundation of Naples.
