On Saturday 12 April at 6.30 pm, on the occasion of the opening of the new space at Palazzo Palumbo Fossati, the Michela Rizzo Gallery inaugurates the exhibition of the young New Zealand artist David Rickard curated by Martina Cavallarin.

David Rickard's work focuses on the conceptual investigation of the object, on its function and dysfunction, on the substance of which it is composed and on the interaction with the space that surrounds it. Solid State is an exhibition based on the pictorial and installation languages ​​that Rickard uses to test the matter, both by comparing its properties and by implementing a regeneration process to change its meaning.

Rickard appropriates commonly used tools, as in the case of work 2708, where he uses mirrors that he breaks and reassembles, challenging the cultural significance that attributes an unfortunate fate to that rupture. The dialogue that is created between the works on display is constant and refined, suspended between random effects, the laws of physics, the change of perspective, and the numerical progression of the titles.
David Rickard's artistic process requires slowness and is nourished by methodical, structural investigation and an ever-present as well as veiled irony.
