The first solo exhibition of emerging Italian artist Beatrice Alici is presented in the GMR.2 exhibition space, with a selection of new works. The exhibition, entitled Moonbath Magic, addresses a theme dear to the artist: the nocturnal.
This leitmotif, which distinguishes Beatrice Alici's production, is for this occasion analysed vertically, giving it a new and personal key. Her artistic research is linked to the image of Eden, in the sense of a timeless archaic place, consisting of nocturnal scenes in which figures and natural landscapes merge into each other, in an attempt to represent a return to a primordial psychological space. The figures that most frequently populate her imagery are women, who are depicted with enigmatic or supernatural elements. Women, depicted as goddesses or witches, evoke a divine matriarchy: the sacred and primordial feminine. Despite the reference to a certain esoteric iconography, the figure of the witch for Alici is a symbol of a desire to return to the origins and to a more intimate connection with the natural world. The use of nocturnal moonlight is a further symbolic suggestion to the sphere of the feminine, in fact, as opposed to the masculine sunlight, it makes the scenes depicted more delicate and with cool, almost silvery tones. Light, in Beatrice Alici's works, is an element that in her latest productions becomes the protagonist and essential in creating the suspended atmosphere of the narrative. A night that never sleeps. Thus, images emerge of an inner world of the artist far from reality, characterised by references to the magical and surreal.

Beatrice Alici was born in San Donà di Piave (Venice) in 1992 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. After ten years in Venice, she currently lives and works in Milan. This is her first solo exhibition in collaboration with Galleria Michela Rizzo, with whom she had already collaborated in 2022 for the group exhibition Vedute. Villa Aventino in Venice in 2022.
