In the exhibition, The Inverted Horizon, Ivan Barlafante's work is placed on the fleeting edge between the natural and the spiritual dimension. Each of the three rooms is marked by a different spatial situation and a different element.

The first room is dedicated to the earth and we find a sculpture formed by a part of the root of two elms carried away by the flood, arrived at the sea and beached. The surface was stripped of the bark and then sandblasted, smoothing its tragedies one by one until they were removed. The tree strips itself of its experience, offering itself in a dimension in which all judgment is absent.

It is like being in front of a Haiku, a Japanese poem of only three lines, built by precise rules, a poem of concentration. The other works correspond to the idea of ​​being able to enjoy work without paraphrasing it. They are not a definition of something that asks to be translated. On the contrary, they ask for the suspension of the judgment in favour of what they express. They are made of bark, log touches, glass, and silk taffeta… they have square or rectangular shapes. They are not to be understood analogically, communication, released from the word, passes through amazement.

The second room is dedicated to water. A loudspeaker is immersed in a blue plastic barrel. The possibility of listening is therefore submerged. The sound is on the verge of being audible. This generates a slight wave ripple on the water surface. It is a sound visualization process. Something that cannot be perceived manifests itself. A transcendent experience of being is staged. On the ground, there is a small work with implosive light. The two rooms are joined in the dividing wall by a glass plate of which we see only the fringed edge.

The third room, on the first floor, is that of stone. There is a circle of marble stones that rest one on top of the other on a thread of light that subtracts gravity. In the lower order, we have the kingdom of Otherness and Empathy, above the dimension of the Beyond.

As Fabio Mauri said, art is always "beyond" ... And now Fiat Lux. The light of thought is embodied in natural elements.
