“Fabio Mauri, etc…” is an exhibition conceived, built and strongly desired by Fabio Mauri, who passed away in Rome a few days after its inauguration.

On Thursday 4 June at 6.00 pm the Michela Rizzo Gallery of Palazzo Palumbo Fossati, Venice, in collaboration with Nuova Icona, inaugurates a solo exhibition of the great Fabio Mauri, a contemporary artist of considerable cultural depth and vast experience, experimenter of multiple expressive languages.

“Fabio Mauri has always worked on only one thing: linguistic understanding of the world. His objects, his actions, performances, and installations, are in the direction of the combined tension, at times heterogeneous and in short circuit, to render the complexity of the world and of thought. Going back to the Futurist and Fluxus instances, his work lies in the dimension suspended between Art and Life, a dimension in which thought, light, and word are concrete, heavy, and really matter. The ideology that permeates all of his art has its own "thing" like the projection that invading a photograph, a scale, a book or a dress becomes substance. The bookcases, filled with a selection of books chosen by Mauri on the themes of Futurism and with uniforms hung on the woodwork belonging to the same era, are bearers of messages printed between the pages as on the hemp wefts of the clothes. Carpets with engraved letters, or walls with handwriting tattooed on the plaster surface, become language themselves. All of them constitute signs of systems, universes of use, and consonance between art, which is not life, but which is probably the same."
