Matthew Attard

Bologna, Arte Fiera

From 2 to 5 February 2018

Two win:
Barbara De Vivi of the Marcolini Gallery e
Matthew Attard of the Michela Rizzo Gallery.

Prize ex aequo to two artists, for the 12th edition of the Euromobil Under 30 Group Award.

The painter Barbara De Vivi (Venice 1991) with the work "Notturno", presented by the Galleria Marcolini, stand B92 hall 25 and Matthew Attard (Malta 1987) with "Untitled (You are a poser!)", Presented by the Galleria Michela Rizzo , stand A47 hall 25.

The Jury (Gaspare, Antonio, Fiorenzo and Giancarlo Lucchetta, owners of the Euromobil Group and art collectors; Angela Vettese, director of Arte Fiera; Beatrice Buscaroli, art critic; by Aldo Colonetti, historian of design and designer Cleto Munari. Secretary of the Jury: Roberto Gobbo) motivated the choice of the Awards as follows: "De Vivi's painting is a large oil on canvas from which figures, animals, traces of nature emerge: a dense world full of cultured citations and references to art of the past but also extremely contemporary in its mystery, in its unveiling little by little, in its reserved silence.
Matthew Attard's sculptures, made with aluminum wires - cross the thin line that divides abstraction and figuration, recomposing recognizable images and even, being female figures, extremely seductive.
