Silvano Tessarollo was born in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza) in 1956. He lives and works in Tezze sul Brenta (Vicenza). For Silvano Tessarollo places and time have a particular fascination characterized by the union of fragility, poetry and concreteness. In his works, which he elaborates through photography, drawing, video and installation, nature is often the main carachter and shows up through simple scenarios that can be traced back to a known and often familiar imagination; it has its roots in the values of the Earth and in the rhythms connected to it. Many of his works are characterized by entropy, which becomes a founding element of the work itself. Tragedy has always been a frequent element, which appears in the forms of a calamity already passed, but still capable of reverberating a latent despair, as profound as human. Between the 1990s and the first decade of the new century his work has touched visual moments of different direction, in which the story was relied on colored wax puppets that in spite of their apparent lightness, contained the seed of ruin that today, as then and as at the beginning, it represents the only figure of his language and his research. His path is characterized by participation in exhibitions and events of relevance such as the Rome Quadrennial and the Venice Biennale. Several institutions, from the Pecci Museum in Prato to Palazzo Collicola in Spoleto, to the Mart in Rovereto, have recognized the significance of his poetic discourse in the visual arts.
