Lucio Pozzi (Milan, 1935), after living a few years in Rome, where he studied architecture, moved to the United States in 1962 as a guest at the Harvard International Seminar. He then settled in New York, where he acquired American citizenship. He now divides his time between Hudson, a town north of New York, and Valeggio sul Mincio, a village located between Mantua and Verona.<\/p>\n

He taught at the Cooper Union, Yale University Master in Sculpture, Princeton University, Maryland Institute of Art, Brera Academy. She\u2019s on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts in New York. In 1977 his work was presented at Documenta 6, in 1978 Il Museum of Modern Art dedicates one of the first solo exhibitions of the series Projects Video and two years later, exhibited in the American pavilion of the Venice Biennale.\u00a0His art is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and many other public and private collections.<\/p>\n

Lucio Pozzi is a secretly subversive artist. He uses Conceptual Art as a starting point to question the presuppositions of art and go in search of intensity and inspiration in a structure of continuous alternation of different artistic experiences. He thinks that the coherence of style and meaning do not depend on formulas but are revealed without preliminary calculations in the artist\u2019s practice. His practice is organized according to certain principles - schemes, maps, lists - which are then always transformed into mere heterogeneous probabilities.<\/p>\n

Galleria Michela Rizzo has been collaborating for several years with Lucio Pozzi. In 2018 the gallery hosted the collective Due o Tre Dimensioni Infinite, curated by Davide Ferri, in which were set up the Level Group Paintings by Lucio Pozzi, pairs of paintings hanging at the same height that are activated by their dualisms: vertical and horizontal brushstrokes, different surface thicknesses, differences in weight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
