At last, Saturday 13 June will see the inauguration of the new exhibition Assembramenti/ Aggregations, a symbol of the new beginning after the months of mourning and lockdown that have deeply scarred all of us. This is an anomalous exhibition for Galleria Michela Riz- zo because, for the first time in its history, the gallery is presenting in its spaces a collective exhibition featuring more than 30 artists, an actual crowd of works aimed at representing the emotional richness and the desire to return to work and resume interrupted conversations. We have gathered the works of artists with whom we have collaborated for a long time and shared beautiful moments, while including some new entries... hopefully, this reunion will bring about a burst of energy and a breath of optimism!
The exhibition unfolds through a diverse and heterogeneous itinerary in which different ar- artistic realities dialogue and interact with each other. By including all media, from drawing to painting, from sculpture to photography, from video to installation, Assembramenti/ Aggregations intends to host, in an articulated space such as that of the former Giudec- ca brewery, a group of exhibited works aimed at raising spirits and bringing about positivity. The strength of contrasts and differences too is supposed to impress and surprise, starting with painting, sometimes light and subtle, as in Riccardo Guarneri’s works on paper, sometimes abstract, as in Saverio Rampin’s landscapes, sometimes expressionist and resolved, as in Sophie Westerlind’s works. Lucio Pozzi’s work entitled The mesmerizing trinities of Kayem (from LS) arranges arrows in space, almost as though to illustrate the itinerary of the exhibition.
Thin and simple shapes are outlined by Giorgia Fincato’s hand, whereas thin threads be- come labyrinthine maps of our passage in the great papers by Mariateresa Sartori. Transformed, crossed, traversed, portrayed, studied, and modified landscapes are found in the works by Antonio Rovaldi, Francesco Jodice, Ryts Monet, Michael Hoepfner and Hamish Fulton. Observing, moving and creating be- come complementary actions; matter, photographs and sculptures narrate an experience in which the object of art is an appendix of the experience.
The works speak of nature in its broadest forms: hostile and in a perennial struggle with man, as in Andrea Mastrovito’s light boxes – on display in GMR’s spaces for the first time – or useful, as in Silvano Tessarollo’s works, in which the artist uses grass, earth and water to paint and convey the transience and caducity of things.
Finally, witness the return to the concrete and founding themes of humanity and modern society with Antoni Muntadas: globalisation, transnational capitalism and the interconnection of the world by means of words.
The glass works of Silvano Rubino, an artist who usually explores different fields – from photography to painting, from installations to videos – are distributed in space and in them poetry combined with a conceptual vision.
